CIBC donates $500,000 to TRSM

By Jackie Hong

The CIBC has donated $500,000 to the Ted Rogers School of Management.

The money will go towards several scholarships, including the CIBC Women in Business Technology Management Award, which will give up to 12 female students (three each year) $5,000 for each year of school. The donation will also fund two annual CIBC Awards worth $4,000 each in the School of Accounting and Finance, one designated exclusively for female students and the other for either gender.

“We are committed to the advancement of women in leadership and to supporting awards furthering this commitment,” Christina Kramer, CIBC’s executive vice-president retail and business banking and Ryerson graduate, said in a press release. “CIBC’s diversity is one of our greatest strengths and a key contributor to our success.”

“The Ted Rogers School of Management is thrilled to partner with CIBC in growing the diversity of our student body,” Ted Rogers Dean Steven Murphy said in the release. “Women remain underrepresented in ICT and finance fields. This gift is one important step in creating a pipeline of young, talented women who will be the technological leaders of industry tomorrow.”
