The campaign to close parts of campus began over 10 years ago and this week the final hurdle was cleared in the fight to keep traffic off of a section of Gould Street

Roughly 200 students met on Gould Street today to rally in support of the Ryerson Student Union (RSU) and Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) Drop Fees movement, in the hopes of reducing Ontario tuition fees.

Cars won’t be seen on Gould Street for at least another year, with the closure of Ryerson’s main stretch to vehicle traffic extended to September 2012. The decision was passed by Toronto and East York Community Council Monday

The year-long closure is coming to an end and the decision to allow cars back in or let students roam free lies in the hands of community council. Christina Dun reports
