Blue windows, green cash for athletics

By Caroline Alphonso

Ryerson’s athletic department is hoping its new gym will mean more sponsorship money.

Three blue glass windows now look across the laneway into Jorgenson Hall.  The old windows in Upper Kerr Gym were replaced in favour for the new ones because they can provide better space for corporate sponsorship logos.  The windows were installed in May.

“We decided that we could either replace the curtains with new ones or do something with some future use,” said assistant athletic director Chuck Mathies.  “The windows are put in place if we want to go after sponsors.”

Companies can buy space on the windows for their logos.

“Here’s an opportunity for somebody to gain some visibility on an ongoing basis,” he said.

The price of putting a logo on the windows has not been determined/set, Mathies said.
