Women’s soccer all wet in weekend losses

By Steve Petrick

Like Milli Vanilli, all the Ryerson women’s soccer team can do is blame it on the rain.

A steady drizzle at Birchmount Stadium created a torrential downpour of trouble for Rams goalkeeper Nathania Dashner as the Carleton Ravens locked up a 3-1 win on Saturday.

The winless Rams equalled Carleton, now 3-3, for most of the game and had a 1-0 lead for most of the first half.

“Heartbreaking is not even the word for it,” said surprisingly calm Dashner after the game. “It’s been a really rough season for us.” A 2-0 loss against Trent on Sunday may be more gut wrenching than Saturday’s loss, because the Rams have now missed their easiest chance of winning a game this year. Trent, in sixth place, got its only two wins have come against Ryerson.

The Rams will hope for sun when they go to York Oct. 10.
