Security locks rooms after gifts found

Gifts left in some journalism students’ folders prompted Ryerson security to close two rooms in the Rogers Communications Centre for about three hours last Friday afternoon.

A handful of second-year journalism graduate students reported receiving computer disks, pens and books last week from an unknown source.

“As a result of the activities involved — most of it benign — security advised we should restrict access to the journalism lounge and the journalism office,” said Vince Carlin, chair of the school of journalism.
