Men’s team still alive after undefeated weekend

By Noah Love

The men’s team did what they had to do to keep their playoff dream alive.

The Rams tied the University of Guelph Gryphons 0-0 on Saturday. They followed that up with a 2-2 tie against the Brock University Badgers on Sunday.

The good news for Ryerson is the University of McMaster Marauders lost both of their weekend games and are now two points ahead of the Rams in the OUA midwest division.

Even better, next week, Ryerson plays winless University of Windsor and McMaster plays the division leading Gryphons.

If the Rams win and the Marauders lose, Ryerson will make the post-season. The two teams split their two matches, so if the Rams win and the Marauders tie the tie-breaker would go to McMaster, which has a 4-2 advantage in goals in the two games.

If Brock and Ryerson win and McMaster loses, Brock will advance because they won the season series against the Rams.

Ryerson will have to shake off some of the effects of their disappointing results this year if they hope to beat Windsor.

Ryerson scored a big 1-0 win over Western in the third week of the season, but then squandered a chance to move into second place when they lost to Brock, 1-0. The Badgers were winless at the time.

The men’s and women’s soccer team play their final game of the season on Sunday at Windsor. The women play at 1 p.m. and the men play at 3 p.m.
