Ryerson introduces sports hall of fame

Ryerson inducted ten alumni into the newly created Ryerson University Sport Hall of Fame. Inductees were separated into three categories: Athletes, Builders, and Leaders.

Athletes inducted include wrestler Joe Dell’Aquila, skier Gillian Esson, former hockey team captain C. Julian Smith, and basketball star Darcel Wright.

The Builders are longtime fencing instructor Kyoko (Kay) Aoyama and karate instructor Dave Manara.

This year’s leaders are Sandy Duncan, Ryerson’s first co-ed intramural convenor, J. Martin Campbell, who introduced a computerized intramural scheduling program, Brian O’Reilly, who played for and coached the men’s volleyball team, and Kim E. Publicover, who played for and coached the women’s soccer team.
