ITM mandatory laptop program gets official go-ahead

The school of information technology management’s mandatory laptop program received final approval at Monday’s board of governors meeting.

RyeSAC president Odelia Bay tried to reopen debate surrounding the issue at the meeting, but was unsuccessful. RyeSAC had been lobbying for a student referendum to ask students for approval.

Starting Fall 2002, incoming full-time students will lease laptops for up to $1,600 a year. The school is trying to raise money to help students with the added cost, which will cover the computer, software and any upgrades.
