It’s September, and the Toronto International Film Festival has once again picked Ryerson to showcase several new films. You have no reason not to go.
Here’s why: If you’re a student under 25, you’re eligible for a discount on all regular screenings. Also, starting Monday, Sept. 12, there’s a new film showing almost every day. It’s a sweet bookend to a day of classes.

Restless- Two teens obsessed with death form a bond. As they share their tragedies, we learn their secrets. Thursday, Sept. 8 at 9 p.m.
Take This Waltz- Oscar-nominee Michelle Williams is forced to choose between her husband and a new man. Canadian favourite Sarah Polley directs. Sunday, Sept. 11 at 12 p.m.
Martha Mary May Marlene– A young woman is torn after she escapes from a cult. Sunday, Sept. 11 at 3 p.m.
50/50– Joseph-Gordon Levitt plays the nice guy, like he does in every movie. The film follows his journey after being diagnosed with cancer. It’s billed as depressing and funny. Seth Rogen plays his best friend. Also featured are Philip Baker Hall as his doctor and Anna Kendrick as a budding therapist. Monday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m.
Ten Year– Friends reconvene at a ten-year high school reunion. Some things between them haven’t changed. Monday, Sept. 12 at 9 p.m.
The Oranges-A guy falls for a good friend’s daughter. As you can imagine, this doesn’t go over well. Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 12 p.m.
Like Crazy– Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones play two college students who jump into an intense, possibly short-lived romance when Jones’ character leaves a love poem in the other’s car. Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 12 p.m.
Friends with Kids- Problems arise when members of a group of friends, you know, have children. Friday, Sept. 9 at 6 pm. and Friday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m.
