Rams destroy RMC

By James Gleason

The Ryerson men’s hockey team earned a convincing victory on Friday, routing the Royal Military College (RMC) Paladins 8-2 on Armed Forces Appreciation Night.

While the Paladins (2-18-2) kept it close throughout the first two periods of play, the Rams (8-13-0) eventually took control — scoring six unanswered goals, including five in the third.

“[RMC is] a chippy team and not very skilled. [But] they work hard and you know it is going to be a game like that,” said Rams forward Jamie Wise, who had two goals and an assist.

The Rams outshot the Paladins 36-33; with goaltender Troy Passingham making 31 saves.

“We came out flat in the first… so he kept us in there,” said Wise.

Also scoring for the Rams were forwards Jason Kelly, Robert Visca, Greg Payne and Michael Fine (who had two goals).

The Rams bounced back after a tough loss (9 to 4) against the University of Ottawa last Sunday.  They’ll now look to avenge that loss when they host the Gee-Gees at the Mattamy Athletic Center on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.
