Welcome to the Eyeopener’s web series ‘Eyes on Rye,’ where we profile some of Ryerson’s most talented students, doing dope things in their field of study. This week, we are featuring a third-year creative industries student who puts a jazz twist on conventional beat-making.
Blayne Stone doesn’t know why he started Camino Jazz Club—he doesn’t even listen to the kind of music that he plays. But when he sits down, that’s just what comes out. He looks to combine his own guitar playing which he samples and cuts down with less conventional ambient sounds.
Stone also spends some of his spare time booking bands around Toronto to make extra cash. He hopes to collaborate more with other artists in the future to enhance some of his current projects and ideas.
Stone says he’ll never stop making music, but goal number one is to become self-employed as a booking agent.
