Canadian hip hop musician Shad performed on Friday during the Ryerson Students’ Union parade and picnic. A graduate of Wilfred Laurier University, Shad recorded his first album in his last year of studies and recently was nominated for the Polaris music prize. His latest album, TSOL, has spawned numerous hits including Rose Garden and Ya I get it. The Eyeopener’s community editor Allyssia Alleyne caught up with Shad before he went on stage. Inspired by the Harry Potter books, Muggle Quidditch is a sport that is growing all across the globe and especially in university sports. A cross between manhunt, dodge ball and basketball, Muggle Quidditch is an extremely physically demanding sport that requires some athleticism to play. Perhaps surprisingly, it is a contact co-ed sport with full body tackles. If you are interested in joining Ryerson’s team, practices are every Sunday from 4-6 p.m. in the quad and everyone is welcome to come out and play.
