Recruiters at Price Waterhouse Coopers aren’t happy with the service they got from Ryerson’s Career Centre.
Dance Soares, a recruiting manager at the accounting firm, said he sent an ad to the Career Centre advertising a position for a chartered accountant in August, but it never got posted.
Charna Gordon, employment services coordinator at the Career Centre, said the centre no longer has a job=posting system for “graduate-year recruitment programs,” which are jobs geared toward students looking for employment after they graduate.
“We got this form, but we don’t have the staff available to post his ad,” said Gordon. “Employers are used to having it [the ads] posted, but we don’t do that anymore.”
In the past, the centre did process the ads for graduate-year recruitment programs but ended this service a couple of months ago.
Gordon said the Career Centre sent Soares two faxes after receiving his ad, recommending he use Campus Worklink, an Internet-based job posting system for Canadian university and college students.
The manager of Campus Worklink, Linda Lula, said the company has not received any calls from Price Waterhouse Coopers in regards to placing a job posting.
Last January, a similar incident occurred when Toronto Computes!, a free monthly computer magazine, failed to receive a response from the Career Centre after it submitted an ad for a technological writer.
Liz Devine, manager of skills and development at the Career Centre, said that information was e-mailed to the editor, but it wasn’t received because of a transmission error.
