Rams on the road: men’s hockey wins season opener

The men’s hockey team travelled to York university Thursday night to open the season and came away with a 4-1 win.

Victor Terreri opened the scoring for Ryerson on a goal late in the first period from Lucas Froese and Jason Kelly.

The Rams scored again early in the second with Jason Kelly tipping in a powerplay goal on a slap pass from rookie Alex Leader.

The Rams went up 3-0 later in the period. Daniel Clairmont scored his first Ontario University Athletics (OUA) goal on a shorthanded two-on-one with Kyle Blaney.

York got one back early in the third, but Ryerson sealed the game with a goal from Matthew Andreacchi.

Troy Passingham made 29 saves in goal to get the win.

The Rams will now travel to Pennsylvania for two games against NCAA teams this weekend.

The team’s next regular season game is their home opener on Oct. 9 against the Laurentian Voyageurs.
