Rage against the Harris machine

Allen Gardens was the site for CKLN’s Rap N’ Rage, a benefit concert held to protest the Harris cuts to the welfare system. Over 400 people were there to listen and rally with such bands as Dream Warriors, Faith Nolan, and Little X and Black Katt last Sunday afternoon and evening. The event attracted numerous community groups, including AIDS Action Now, Coalition for Lesbian and Gay Rights in Ontario, the Toronto Rape Crisis Centre, Low Income Families Together, and the Toronto Coalition Against Racism. Booths were set up to collect for the Metro Food Back, as well as winter clothing and children’s toys. A charity beer garden was also available to concert goers.
