Canadian university students don’t want to work for the federal government.
A recent study shows civil service is boring and unrewarding. Out of 2,500 students surveyed, only 18 per cent said they’d consider work in the public sector.
The cynical portrait of civil servants comes from stereotypes that depict hem as lazy. But recent layoffs of government staff have also contributed to the idea that civil service is a dead end job. And only 29 per cent of the students surveyed believe public employees actually care about serving Canadians.
