With the help of CBC technicians, three RTA students aired their mini documentary on the media/communications program Under-currents last December.
Sarah Morris, Kieron Lang, and Lesley Cameron produced Hotmail, which looked at how the Web-based e-mail company of the same name manipulates its users. Owned by the Microsoft Network, Hotmail attracts customers though heavy advertising, expanding the corporation’s already huge user base.
The documentary began as an assignment for their public affairs, course, but Undercurrents’ producers (who are trying to increase ratings form younger audiences) showed interest in the group’s proposal to broadcast their piece nationwide.
