James Cameron, world-renowened director and Mars enthusiast, planned to attend the International Mars Society Conference held at Ryerson, but scheduling difficulties forced him to cancel his plans just two weeks before the galactic event.
A representative of Cameron’s production company, Lightstorm, said the esteemed director supports the Mars Society—he recently donated an undisclosed amount of money to the group—but was unable to attend because he had a prior commitment outside of the country.
The company also confirmed that Cameron, who was awarded an honorary degree from Ryerson in 1998, is working on two movies and a book about exploring the Red Planet.
