Gifts left in some journalism students’ folders prompted Ryerson security to close two rooms in the Rogers Communications Centre for about three hours last Friday afternoon.
A handful of second-year journalism graduate students reported receiving computer disks, pens and books last week from an unknown source.
“As a result of the activities involved — most of it benign — security advised we should restrict access to the journalism lounge and the journalism office,” said Vince Carlin, chair of the school of journalism.
