Biohazard contained

By the News Team

A portion of Gerrard Street East, between Yonge and Church Streets, was closed late Monday afternoon while Toronto firefighters cleaned up some biohazardous material found in the middle or the road.

Police said needles and other medical materials, believed to have fallen off a truck, were discovered around 4 p.m.

Not knowing if the waste was dangerous, police blocked off the street and the fire department was called in to clean up. No damage was done, no one was hurt and the road was re-opened about an hour-and-a-half later.
