Rye spanker back in court

By Ling Hui

A former Ryerson journalism student and games room manager has been charged with sexually assaulting two teenage boys.

Aaron Benditt, 27, was arrested on March 13 and charged with assaulting two boys ages 15 and 17 between the hours of 3 p.m. on March 11 and 5 p.m. on March 12.

In April of 1997, while Benditt was working as the manager of Ryerson’s games room, he was charged with spanking two students and attempting to spank another.

The first assault happened in 1995 when benditt offered a 21-year-old Pitman Hall resident a job in the games room. When benditt got his victim into his ILLC residence, he spanked him.

The second spanking happened in the spring of 1997, when Benditt tried to take a 19-year-old—who was applying for a job at the games room—over his knee. The victim managed to avoid the attack.

Benditt was also charged with assault after another Ryerson student was spanked for an alleged corporal punishment project.

He pleaded guilty to the spankins and was given a three-month conditional sentence and three years probation.

Benditt left Ryerson in 1997.
