A former Ryerson journalism student and games room manager found guilty of spanking young boys was sentenced Monday to 16 months in prison.
Aaron Benditt, 28, has served 242 days in custody since he was charged with assaulting two boys, ages 15 and 17, whom he met at a Scarborough church.
A psychiatric report determined Benditt is a risk to reoffend and suggested he receive sex offender treatment while in prison.
In April 1997, when he was manager of the games room in the basement of Jorgenson Hall, Benditt was charged with spanking two students and attempting to spank another.
The first assault happened in 1995 when he offered a 21-year-old Pitman Hall resident a job in the games room. Benditt spanked the man while in the International Living and Learning Centre.
The second spanking occurred in the spring of 1997 when Benditt tried to take a 19-year-old games room applicant over his knee. The man managed to avoid the spanking.
