Ryerson Student Soldiers

The Canadian Forces want to send you to school. The Eyeopener talked to Ryerson student soldiers who are getting their tuition subsidized in return for their service with the army. Meet Jeremy Humphrey, an urban planning student and reservist who receives $2000 a year for tuition and Aida Gabriel, a full-time member who has toured in Afghanistan and Bosnia and is now at Ryerson on the army’s dime. We also talk to Captain Rick Towey who first joined in 1972 and has toured in Afghanistan working with IEDs. Read the full story
