Box outside RCC not a threat

Eyeopener Staff

Police have determined the suspicious package outside the Rogers Communication Centre (RCC) is not a threat.

Firefighters, police, ambulance and a hazmat truck were present at the scene. The area was investigated for a period of time before a member of police unwrapped the bright blue egg wrapping from the box. The brown cardboard box was opened but nothing was found inside.

Police removed the package from the east side of the RCC around 2:20 p.m.

The box shut down the area of Church Street that runs through Ryerson campus from Gerrard Street to Dundas Street. The streets were reopened.

The Eyeopener is still investigating into where the box came from. More to come.
