Gryphons crush Rams women’s hockey team 5-0

By Jacqueline Tucci

The Ryerson women’s hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision on Saturday to the Guelph Gryphons  — the #6-ranked team in the CIS.

The Rams got off to a rough start, with the Gryphons scoring two goals within the first 10 minutes of the game.

“Guelph has a great team this year, and we knew that the cards were stacked against us going into this game,” said Rams head coach Lisa Haley.

The Rams were outshot 30-18 in the game, and by the end of the second period, the Gryphons had already made it 5-0.

“For us to be successful we need to make sure we’re getting the puck to the net more,” said Rams forward Melissa Wronzberg. “I think we hit too many shin pads.”

The Rams finished the game without captain Nella Brodett, who left in the third period, after going headfirst into the boards.
