Men’s hockey is finished

By Shannon Baldwin

The Rams’ season ended after a 5-1 loss in game two of the semifinals against Lakehead University.

Troy Passingham made 30 saves on the Lakehead Thunderwolves’ home ice Friday night, but it wasn’t enough to win the game.

Thunderwolves’ Andrew Wilkins scored early in the first period — followed by a second goal by defenceman Mike Quesnele before the halfway point of the period.

Jamie Wise put Ryerson on the board with a goal to start off the second period. This is Wise’s fifth goal of the playoffs. But Lakehead would respond with two more goals of their own.

Lakehead scored their final goal just 1:18 into the third to gain a 5-1 lead and secure their spot in the OUA West finals.

Lakehead will now face either Western or Windsor in the other best-of-three OUA West semifinal — their game three is on Sunday at 7 p.m.
