As Ryerson students, most of us can say that we’ve attended a Rams sporting event throughout our time on campus. As various athletes take the field, or the court, or the rink, have you ever stopped to think about what it takes for them to compete? We have, which is why we’ve created Rise of the Week.
Once a week, we take a look at the life of a Rams athlete. This week we were joined by Adika Peter-McNeilly, who took us through his workout as a member of the men’s team.
Peter-McNeilly is guard for the Basketball team and studies sociology. The fourth-year student from Scarborough chooses to stay in shape by focusing on a mix of practice with ball handling on he court, and time spent lifting weights in the gym. He focuses on discipline with ball handling and shooting to ensure that he will do his job right during the game. His diet during the season consists of light pregame meals with the rest of the basketball team, often mixed vegetables and rice, and chicken to keep energy levels up.
