Premier Kathleen Wynne was at Ryeron’s DMZ on Feb 24 to announce a partnership with IBM Canada and Ontario Centres of Excellence that will help small enterprises create jobs and compete in the global marketplace.
“Today’s announcement reinforces our province’s position as an ideal place to develop and launch innovative new technologies and concepts, and will help strengthen our economy and create highly skilled jobs,” Wynne said in a release.
Ontario will invest $22.75 million into the project, called the IBM Innovation Incubator. The investment is expected to create up to 2,600 new jobs.
Ryerson is one of 14 academic institutions involved in the project.
