Ryerson student killed in Pickering car crash

A Ryerson student was killed on Aug 2 after a fatal car crash in Pickering, Durham Regional Police Services confirmed.

Nadia Mohabir, 19, collided with a Green International garbage truck on Bayly Street in Pickering just after 5 p.m. Two passengers, a man and a woman, both 23, suffered serious injuries and were transported to hospital. Mohabir was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Facebook, Mohabir was studying business and technology at Ryerson.

The 50-year-old male driver of the garbage truck was not injured during the incident.

The Durham Regional Police Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigations Unit attended the scene to investigate and have not yet released details of the incident.
