Ryerson’s women’s volleyball team couldn’t advance to the OUA gold medal match, suffering a 3-0 sweep (25-21, 25-17, 25-21) against the McMaster Marauders in a semi-final matchup at the University of Toronto on Friday night.
The Marauders were too much to handle for the Rams, with Joanna Jedrzejewska and Maicee Sorensen combining for 27 kills while libero Carly Heath finished with 40 digs on her way to game MVP honours.
“[McMaster had] maybe the best defensive performance I’ve seen all year,” said Rams head coach Dustin Reid.”I’m proud of the way we battled, but we made too many mistakes.”
The Rams will go on to face the U of T Blues on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. in the bronze medal match, before they get ready to host and atomically participate in this year’s U Sports Final 8 national tournament from March 17-19.
