Ryerson students, faculty, staff, contractors and visitors must disclose their vaccination status in order to come to campus, effective Sept. 7 for the upcoming fall term, Ryerson president Mohamed Lachemi announced on Friday.
Those who have not been fully vaccinated or who refuse to declare their vaccination status will be required to get tested before coming to campus.
It is not yet clear if Ryerson will require vaccination records as proof of vaccination.
“Details about attesting vaccination status, testing requirements, and how to request an exemption will be shared shortly,” the statement reads.
This comes after Ryerson announced Wednesday that all student athletes must be fully vaccinated in order to compete, as well as a previous announcement requiring students to be fully vaccinated in order to stay in residence.
For Ryerson community members who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine, vaccines will be made available through the Ryerson Medical Centre.
“Anticipating a full return to campus” in the winter 2022 semester, the university said it will be looking to require community members to provide proof of their vaccination status in order to come to campus.
The current mask mandate and other safety protocols, including health screening, enhanced cleaning and ventilation and air purification, will continue on campus.
Ryerson joins various universities across Ontario that have announced vaccination requirements to return to campus.
