After battling a flu bug at the beginning of the week, the Rams swim team faced another fight at the OUA Invitational competition that took place at the University of Toronto on Saturday.
A couple of swimmers were still dealing with light-headedness as they competed at the U of T pool last Saturday.
“About six members caught the bug and missed practices this week,” Rams head coach Victor Delac said. “Considering the team’s condition, I was really happy with the results.”
The women swam in the morning and personal best times were achieved by rookies Leslie Cole (200 individual medley and 50 butterfly), and Judy Ditner (100 breaststroke).
“Most of these swimmers carried through an excellent stroke technique and a positive mindset. The key components to achieving best times,” Delac said.
Jason Boeki, a first-year Rams rookie who didn’t join the team until halfway through October, swam a personal best time of 27.63 in the 50 freestyle.
“It was a great start considering this is my first serious swim meet,” he said.
“I haven’t been swimming for as long as the whole team so it made me nervous before my race, but I swam the best I could and I’m pleased with the results.”
