Eight candidates, but no new faces running for RyeSAC

The routine plays itself out every weekday in the drag, carpeted office on Jorgenson Hall’s lower ground. The receptionist is in by 9 a.m., lights go on and the glass-paneled doors are opened wide for students to come in and offer their concerns, questions and comments.

While RyeSAC’s headquarters is constantly full of activity, with employees and students coming and going, phones ringing and conversations buzzing, the main action is centres around two offices off the main entrance — those of the organization’s president and three vice-presidents.

These four positions are up for grabs as the current executives’ terms come to an end in April. Vyign to occupy their seats on Ryerson Students’ Administrative Council is a group of eight individuals, all of whom have experience on RyeSAC.

The next two weeks will see a flurry of campaign activity as nominees plaster posters on walls across the school and try to put their best face forward at debates.

Come Feb. 10, students will determine who next will occupy these executive suites. Here’s who you have to choose from:

President

Erin George, 22, a fourth-year journalism student is hoping to move up the ranks from her position as RyeSAC’s v.p. education. George holds one of three student seats on Ryerson’s board of governors and is the university’s Canadian Federation of Students representative.
