Video: Meet Sean Tepper

Ever wonder who’s behind the student newspaper you love/hate? Well, we don’t bite and we want you to get to know us.

In this part of our ongoing series, you’ll meet Sean Tepper, our Sports editor.

Hey guys,

My name is Sean Tepper, and I am the Eyeopener’s Sports Editor. While I don’t fancy myself as an interesting person, the higher-ups at the newspaper told me that I have to tell you, our precious and valued readers, a little bit about myself. So here it goes.

While I am a first-year journalism student here at Ryerson, I was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. Despite being from the hockey capital of Canada (Toronto can’t be considered as the hockey capital seeing as they haven’t won anything substantial since 1967) I am not by any means a hockey fan. My favourite sports, in no particular order, are football, basketball and baseball and my favourite teams in those sports are the Kansas City Chiefs, the Boston Celtics and of course, the Toronto Blue Jays. The reason that I decided to pursue a career in sports journalism is pretty straight forward. I cannot hold a conversation about anything other than sports for more than five minutes. Talk to me about Canadian politics and I can try throw in a mildly informed comment, but talk to me about the trade that sent Vernon Wells to the Angels and you’ll be lucky to get a few words in.

So there you have it, you guys already know more about me than I would like you to know, but if any of you ever want to write for the sports section or just talk about either Ryerson or professional sports, then come drop by the Eyeopener office in the student. I’d like to think of myself as an approachable guy, but I’ll let you be the judge of that.

You can email Sean at sports@theeyeopener.com or tweet @sean_tepper
