King Louie, Sebastian the crab, Jim Crow and Jasmine are just some of the big names that will be headlining the Racist Disney on Ice tour that’s stopping in at the Mattamy Athletic Centre (MAC) this week.
The performances are put on by the Racist Disney Corporation (RDC), a group that aims “to celebrate the dark, embarrassing past that the regular Disney Corporation is trying to forget,” according to a statement on their website.
Local racist Harvey Bliffman bought his tickets months in advance, and has some suggestions for the show. “I can’t wait for the performance. I think it would be great if the monkeys from The Jungle Book and the crows from Dumbo had a rap battle,” he said.
RDC says that fans like Bliffman can expect to see renditions of Arabian Nights from Aladdin, the Red Man’s song by the “Indians” from Peter Pan and the Siamese Cat song from Lady and the Tramp.
The performances will run at Ryerson from Nov. 6-12, before the tour makes its trip around the southern U.S. If the tour is successful, the RDC will be launching a Sexist Disney on Ice tour next spring.
