Ryerson’s women’s volleyball team started rewriting the sequel to last year’s Cinderella season on the weekend. The Rams, who qualified for the OUA playoffs for the first time in team history last year, started this season by winning silver at a pre-season tournament Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo.
After starting the tournament with a 3-2 win over McMaster on Friday, the Rams swept Waterloo 3-0 on Saturday to advance to the semifinal.
There the Rams beat Windsor 3-1, vaulting them into the final, where they lost to the hosting Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks 3-0.
With a 3-1 preseason record, the Rams are off to their best start in the team history. This weekend Ryerson will host it’s own women’s volleyball tournament in Kerr gym.
The action begins at 4 p.m. Friday, when York University takes on McMaster. Ryerson begins play that night with a 6 p.m. game against Queen’s. The Rams also face McMaster at 10 a.m. Saturday before playing York at 1 p.m. The playoff round is scheduled for Sunday.
