The Ryerson Rams men’s soccer team preserved their undefeated season on Sunday at Monarch Park Stadium, beating the Toronto Varsity Blues 3-0.
Ryerson’s Viktor Anastasov started the scoring at the 45 minute mark, giving Ryerson the momentum, despite a slow start heading into the locker room at the half.
In the second half, Ryerson left off where they started and exploded for two more goals by Alex Braletic at the 58 minute mark and Armin Tankovic putting the cherry on top at the 72 minute mark in a dominant performance.
“I thought it was a tale of two halves, in the first half they out played us, but in the second half it was quite the opposite,” said associate coach Filip Prostran. “Any time we get the win against Toronto it is a good day.”
Ryerson goalkeeper Christian Maraldo agreed with coach Prostran.
“We came out slow, they came out with a high tempo, which we didn’t expect,” said Maraldo, who stopped all seven shots that came his way.

“It’s been a long time in the making, we work extremely hard and the good ones get lucky, it’s been a good ride so far,” said Tankovic.
Tankovic also had high praise for second-year forward Luka Lee.
“Luka Lee played excellent, providing a spark that led to the second goal,” said Tankovic. “I’d say the man of the match is Luka Lee”
Lee, coming into the game, was told that he was likely not going to play in Sunday’s match.
But it’s a good thing Ryerson got him in the game, because the speedy forward had a rush, powering through three Toronto defenders, before assisting on Braletic’s ninth goal of the season.
Braletic is currently tied for first in goals scored the OUA with Guelph’s Robert Murray who has played in three more games than Braletic.
The Rams are heading up north to play Laurentian and Nipissing this weekend, where they will be looking to bring their winning streak to nine games.
“Laurentian and Nipissing are two tough games,” said coach Prostran. “We haven’t gotten six points [against them] in a long time.”
