Ryerson’s Mattamy Athletic Centre is set to host all of the basketball and wheelchair basketball games at the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games next summer.
The announcement comes one day before Ryerson hosts the Women’s Wheelchair Basketball World Championships, an event considered to be a trial run before the Pan Am and Parapan games next year.
“Ryerson is very excited to be sharing its magnificent Athletic Centre with fans and athletes from across the Americas during the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games,” said Ryerson president Sheldon Levy in a press release.
“Basketball and wheelchair basketball will be two of the most popular sports at the Toronto 2015 Games — and this is an incredibly intimate venue where you can be close to the action,” said Saäd Rafi, chief executive officer of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee.
The Pan Am Games will run from July 10-26 with the Parapan Am games going from Aug. 7-15.
