If you’re reading this you should know that Drake was on Gould Street, and it’s too late to see him.
The Toronto rap star surprised thousands of students at the Ryerson Students’ Union’s (RSU) parade and concert on Sept. 11.
“Drake just arrived, this is surreal. Four months of work leading to this moment,” said Cormac McGee, RSU’s vice president education.
Internet-famous city counsellor Norm Kelly also made a special appearance on stage with the rapper to greet Ryerson students.
The initial program for the event said nothing about his appearance. The headliner of the event was Future, a rapper Drake has toured with and is rumoured to be working on a mixtape with. Other featured artists included P Reign and Zeds Dead, but not Miguel, who dropped out of the event last minute.
“The show itself still hasn’t really sunk in. We were doing so much running around today I just caught glimpses of the acts, with the exception of Drake who was the only one I saw fully. But now reading through Twitter and my texts, people are so grateful and so proud to be Ryerson students and that’s really amazing,” McGee said after the show.
