CESAR to boycott CopyRITE in wake of recent RSU job losses

By Nicole Schmidt

In wake of the Ryerson Students’ Union (RSU) laying off two of its employees earlier this week, the Continuing Education Students’ Association of Ryerson (CESAR) Board of Directors released a public statement announcing they have passed a motion to boycott the RSU-run printing service, CopyRITE.

On Dec. 1, the RSU eliminated the position of executive director of communications and outreach, laying off Dina Skvirsky and Gilary Massa and sparking controversy on campus. Massa was three months into her maternity leave and Skvirsky was covering the position.

CESAR has expressed concern about RSU president Andrea Bartlett, and wrote that the motion is to ensure “CESAR is not financially contributing to this irresponsible and anti-union student executive.”
