A new year means a new set of resolutions that are going to be nearly impossible to keep. So here’s a list of songs to help you say bye to the garbage year that was 2017 while you try to live your best life in 2018.
- “IDGAF” by Dua Lipa
For those of you looking to leave relationship drama behind in 2017, this is the song for you. “IDGAF,” delivers a similar message to Lipa’s major hit “New Rules,” with a little more sass.
- “Lemon” by N.E.R.D, Rihanna
Emphasis on Rihanna’s verse. Just because everyone needs a little RiRi to live their best life.
- “A Head Full of Dreams” by Coldplay
If this song doesn’t boost your creativity or inspire you, I don’t know what will. C’mon, it’s Coldplay— not sad Coldplay that will have you crying alone in your dorm room!
- “Home” by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
It’s only the start of the semester, but if things get too intense grab your friends, drive until you’re lost, roll the windows down and scream the lyrics to this song. This is what road trip dreams are made of.
- “Lose It (Jerry Folk Remix) by Oh Wonder
I thought the original version of this song was great but I have to warn you, side effects of listening to this remix include uncontrollable dancing and a strong urge to let loose and live your best life.
- “The World You Want” by Switchfoot
Let’s be honest, 2017 was an intense year for our planet and everyone on it. If you’re hoping for more peace and more love across the world in 2018, use this song as inspiration to make a change.
- “Touch the Sky” by Kanye West
An instant ego boost from the King of big egos.
- “Self-Made” by Bryson Tiller
A song for anyone who has convinced themselves that this is the year you will finally get on your grind. Nothing like a sick beat to help you keep up with your resolutions, for a month at least.
- “Get You” by Daniel Caesar
If anyone can convince you that love is real—it’s Daniel Caesar. With the voice of an angel and a dream-like rhythm to match, this song will give you hope that you’ll finally find love in 2018. And of course, it’s always nice to support a Canadian artist.
- “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey
Both a classic and a mantra for the new year. Need I say more?
