On this special episode of The Ear-opener, Izabella guides you through the ins and outs of the Canadian Federation of Students, also known as the CFS.
A member since 1982, Ryerson’s Student Union pays more than half a million dollars to the CFS to support its campaigns, movements and resources all geared toward a “United Student Front.”
Last weekend, Izabella reported from the 37th annual Canadian Federation of Students in Gatineau, Que. on behalf of The Eyeopener, but the Ryerson Student Union was nowhere to be found. RSU president said it was too expensive to send someone, but if they’re still paying fees to the CFS, shouldn’t they at least reap the benefits that come from it? Or use their right to vote to help bring change to university life here at Ryerson?
For this episode, Izabella will explain the history of the CFS, their relationship with the RSU and the inside scoop on what happened at the Annual General Meeting.

CFS is a corrupt organization! We can’t believe any of their garbage until they are transparent starting with their hidden bank account. Also why does York University pay pennies on the dollar while we pay more than half a million dollars. Give this money back to the students who actually need it. CFS = CORRUPTION

Can’t even believe the bias shown by the eyeopener in relation to CFS. I pity every student put under the spell of the CFS. Each waking day this corrupt organization is taking money from students and misusing it. I would rather take the $650,000 we give to CFS and burn it as that would better use of those funds. These are simple lies about the CFS and it is really there to take your money that’s it. I would suggest eyeopener write pros/cons of the cfs and I can guarantee you there will be more cons. Also who in the world makes a hidden bank account? where is the transparency in that.
