App of the Week: WakingNews Alarm Clock

Are you tired of hearing the same buzzer wake you up in the morning, only to reach for your phone minutes later and have to endlessly scroll through notifications on what’s happening in the world?

Well, now you can have the news read to you as you wake up with the WakingNews Alarm Clock.

This app produced by Yahoo looks and works just like an alarm clock. But instead of a buzzer, the latest news headlines become your new alarm tone. Users can customize the news source with choices ranging from Huffington Post, Yahoo News, Finance, Sports, Entertainment, and Engadget, which become available at 6:30 a.m. ET each morning.

Users can also tap a button to hear the news without having to wait for the alarm to set off.

If the news briefings are not enough to stir you out of your sleep, users can default to alarm tones such as cuckoo clock, gentle breeze, loose change and more.

The app is available for free on all android devices through the Google Play Store.
