Five Guys on Yonge closed while undergoing renovations
By Sherwin Karimpoor
Five Guys has temporarily closed its 239 Yonge St. location to the public since Jan. 26 for remodelling.
“We apologize for this inconvenience. Please visit our next closest location [100 King St. W] during this time,” said a poster on the restaurant’s window, signed by the Five Guys team.
A worker at the King Street location detailed the extent of the renovation at the location on Yonge Street.
“We’re gonna have a new fryer, a new grill…we’re gonna have routing done on the floor and then that’s everything. And then we’re gonna have all the new equipment,” the worker said.
He also mentioned that they will be lowering the “cash area” to make the restaurant more accessible for individuals living with a disability.
“If it looks nice then yeah it’ll be a nice sight to see…it’s not an eye sore anymore,” said second-year biology student Absar Awan, who is eager for the reopening of the chain.
A sign on the restaurant’s front door reassured frequent customers that they will be reopening Feb. 13 at 11 a.m.
Pedestrian Bridge closure between KHE and RCC
By Jerry Zhang
The pedestrian bridge connecting Kerr Hall East (KHE) and the Rogers Communication Centre (RCC) has been temporarily closed due to unplanned repairs since Jan 28.
In an announcement, the university’s facilities help desk cited that contractors are sealing the bridge’s interior to prevent extreme cold air from affecting building systems and is restricting access until further notice.
During the closure, students and staff are advised to use the 60 Gould St. entrance to enter KHE and the 80 Gould St. entrance to enter the RCC. Barrier-free access remains available at KHE’s southwest Church-Gerrard entrance and the northeast entrance off Kerr Hall Quad.
The RCC remains accessible via its south main entrance on Gould St. and the north entrance from Pitman Quad. An estimated reopening date has not been announced.
