Mike the Knife

Ontario Premier Mike Harris announced his economic plan late in July. Included was a $16.8 million cut to university funding. The cut amounts to less than one per cent of the $1.8 billion allocated to Ontario universities annually.

Next year, Ottawa is expected to cut transfer payments to the provinces, which may result in a drastic increase in tuition fees.
