Tuition freeze examined

Committee members say they’ve been advised by Ryerson’s number crunchers to increase tuition in deregulated programs, like computer science, engineering and other professional programs, by $300. Administrators emphasize that’s a small increase, compared to some universities.

Rye to barely snag cash

The recently announced provincial performance fund, which splits $16.5-million among universities according to how each performs in three categories, rewards schools that produce successful graduates.

Months of disagreement between RyeSAC and administration over $700,000 in student centre fees have left the student president so frustrated she’s threatening a legal battle.

Wycik residents to vote on rent hike

Residents who attend the co-op’s annual general meeting Wednesday will be able to vote on the motion to raise monthly fees for each member. The raise would generate $300,000 for repairs to the 30-year-old east wall of the building.

Student loan shake-up

The government’s offer of more cash wasn’t enough for the Bank of Nova Scotia. After Scotia refused the deal, the two other major banks involved with student loans—the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Royal Bank—also withdrew.

Tories allow tuition fees
