A software donation nudged Ryerson’s school of retail management fundraising effort past its $10 million target to just over $11 million.
The $5 million software donation from JDA Software Group Inc. was unveiled at an awards ceremony on Monday night. The software will be used to teach visual merchandising, product and demand planning and customer data analysis.
The event also saw a $500,000 donation from Canadian Tire Corporation and three $250,000 donations from Ivanhoe Cambridge, Oxford Properties Group and The Cadillac Fairview Corporation.
Ryerson President Claude Lajeunesse said the fundraising efforts enabled the school to meet the financial needs of many students as well as “to recognize exceptional individuals who are deserving of awards.”
A host of other retail organizations presented $90,000 in scholarships to 41 students at the ceremonies, ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 individually.
