Montreal Massacre Memorial

[nggallery id=30]Today marked the 22nd anniversary of the death of 13 female students and 1 female staff member who were shot on campus at École Polytechnique in Montreal, Québec in 1989. The man responsible for taking these lives was specifically targeting women in engineering. Every year on December 6, Ryerson has held a memorial service on campus to remember the young lives that were taken on that day. This afternoon our president Sheldon Levy and Glen Murray, Toronto MPP and Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities spoke among other. Attendees gathered in the quad to commemorate the event and remind us all of the continued acts of violence against women. Participants then gathered in the Podium building (POD) to hear the attending speakers and watch singers and dancers perform.
