Nas to headline Ryerson’s Parade and Picnic: RSU

By Nicole Schmidt

The Ryerson Students’ Union (RSU) announced on Friday that American rapper, Nas, will be headlining this year’s Parade and Picnic on Sept. 5. Jillionaire, from the electronic music project, Major Lazer, along with Canadian Juno award winning singer/songwriter, Anjulie, are also scheduled to perform during the week of welcome.

For the past two years, the Parade and Picnic concert has been held at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, but the RSU also announced that this year’s show will be performed at the Toronto Island. The last Ryerson frosh concert hosted on the island was back in 2011.

Nas has been touring across North America, Asia and Europe since January. His upcoming North American tour, Time is Illmatic, kicks off on Oct. 2 in New York and stops in Toronto on Oct. 8.

This year will mark the 54th annual Parade and Picnic concert held by the RSU.
