The new face of Yonge and Dundas January 13, 1999 As the expropriation deadline nears for the Yonge-Dundas redevelopment, the store lights have been shut and signs have gone up announcing closures. On Yonge Street, all properties south of HMV stopping short of the Hard Rock Café will be torn down. On some of the land, a private developer plans to build a theatre megaplex for a U.S.-based movie chain, AMC Theatres. The city plans to raze the grounds south of Dundas to construct a public square and underground parking garage. Bothe projects will be finished in 2000. This week Uncoverage takes a closer look at what the corner will look like as construction begins and the area is revitalized.
